We installed a french drain to eliminate standing water. The two homes were very close together. The yard between them had almost zero slope. A french drain, seen here, enables water to be collected and filtered into the ground slowly. This is important for areas that have little slope for proper runoff. We used a sock cover to prevent the pipe from becoming clogged with dirt and debris.
The french drain was able to:
- eliminate standing water
- stop erosion of soil near the foundation
- prevent mosquito breeding in stagnant water
